Routine Cost Comparison places two possible routines beside each other using weekly time and annual direct cost.
It can help when two options promise something similar but ask different things of a real week: a nearby class and a home practice, for example. The lighter option is not automatically the better one. Enjoyment, meaning, access and support do not fit inside this calculation.
01 / Compare two options
Use the same kind of week for both
Include active time and the extra minutes around each session. Nothing you enter is sent or stored.
Home practice uses 35 fewer minutes per week and $1,416 less in direct cost per year.
02 / Read the result
Notice the trade-off, then restore the context
If one option uses less time and money, ask what the other option includes that the fields cannot: guidance, company, a change of scene or simply greater willingness to begin. If each option is lighter in a different way, the comparison has revealed a trade-off—not a tie to break mechanically.
To examine setup, travel, cleanup and tracking separately for one option, use the Wellness Workload Calculator.
Method and limits
Weekly time = (active minutes + extra minutes) × weekly frequency. Annual hours use 52 weeks. Annual direct cost = cost each time × weekly frequency × 52 + fixed monthly cost × 12. Differences are absolute differences between the two estimates.
