Off-Screen
Evenings.

Pick one card, gather what it needs, and leave your device behind. The time is a suggestion. Skip, change or stop whenever you like.

Print on Letter or A4 paper. Cut along the card borders, or keep the sheets together.

The small collection

Paper and a pencil

Find three ordinary objects that share a color or shape. Place them together and sketch their outlines.

Notice which detail you would have missed in passing. Put the objects back when you finish.

A question, then a story

Two people; somewhere comfortable

Take turns asking: “What is one small thing you remember from where you grew up?” Let the answer become a story.

Ask one follow-up question. Either person can pass; there is no need to turn the conversation into a serious discussion.

A note with no occasion

Paper, pen and an envelope if you have one

Write a short note to someone about something specific you appreciated. You can send it later or keep it.

Stop after a few sentences. It does not need a grand opening or a perfect ending.

Draw from a description

Two sheets of paper and pencils

One person describes an ordinary object without naming it. The other draws from the description.

Compare the drawing with the object, swap roles, and let the differences be part of the fun.

One corner, by choice

A shelf, drawer or small surface

Choose one tiny area. Move one item you use into easy reach and give one other item a better home.

Stop at that corner. This is not a prompt to reorganize the house.

The imaginary little shop

Paper and a pencil

Invent a tiny shop together. Decide what it sells, its name, and the one oddly specific thing regular customers love about it.

Sketch its sign or describe its window. No business plan required.

A page worth keeping

Any book or magazine you own

Open to a page that catches your attention. Read slowly enough to notice one sentence or image you like.

Write down why it caught you, or simply leave a bookmark.

The ordinary museum

Three objects each from the room

Each person selects three objects and gives one a museum-style title. Explain why this ordinary object belongs in the collection.

Return everything afterward. Skip objects that are private or fragile.

Follow the window

A comfortable spot near a window

Look out for a few minutes. Notice what moves, what stays still, and what changes as the light shifts.

Draw a rough map or write three observations. No good view is required.

A meal remembered

Paper; no cooking required

Choose a meal you remember and describe the place, people, and details around it. Take turns.

Write down one ordinary meal you might enjoy together another day.

A different route on paper

Paper and a pencil

Draw a familiar route from memory. Mark a tree, doorway, corner, or other detail that helps you know where you are.

Add one place you have never stopped to notice. The map does not have to be accurate.

One line each

Paper and a pencil

Write the first sentence of a story. Pass the paper back and forth, adding one sentence at a time.

After ten turns, give it a title and an ending. It can be completely ridiculous.

Make something useful again

A small item and appropriate supplies

Choose a simple, familiar task: sharpen pencils, replace a notebook cover, or clean a pair of shoes.

Stay with work you already know how to do safely. Stop when the small task is done.

Plan a tiny outing

Paper and local knowledge

Choose a nearby place you could visit without making a whole day of it. Agree on one thing you would enjoy there.

Write down a possible time. Check any practical details later; there is no booking to complete tonight.

Five lines about today

Paper and a pen

Write five lines: somewhere you went, something you heard, an ordinary thing you ate, a detail you noticed, and something left unfinished.

Leave it as a record rather than a score. Skip any line you do not want to answer.

Choose the next card

A pack of cards or six scraps of paper

Agree on a simple game you both know. If you use scraps, make three matching pairs, turn them over, and play a memory game.

Finish one round, then decide together whether another would be fun.

Arrange, then leave it

A few books, postcards or familiar objects

Make a small arrangement on a surface. Try one order, then another. Notice which version you prefer.

Keep it or put everything back. A photograph is optional, not the point.

An evening menu

Paper and pencils

Each write three low-effort things you might enjoy doing together. Compare the lists and pick the easiest shared option.

Do a small version tonight. Save the others for when they sound appealing.
